The Basics
What is Engage?
Engage is the guest communications module in alliants.ai. It sends booking, pre-arrival, in-stay and departure messages automatically, and lets your marketing, CRM, front office and guest experience teams run campaigns for offers and announcements, all to audiences your team defines and checks before sending.
What is the difference between a journey and a campaign?
A journey is automated and follows the stay: it starts when something happens, such as a booking or check-in, or a set number of days before arrival. A campaign is a batch send for an offer, announcement or seasonal message, sent once or on a schedule you choose.
For Your Guests
How will guests hear from us?
By email, text message or WhatsApp. Each campaign can use a fallback channel when a guest cannot be reached on the first, and you can send to the primary guest, the other guests on the booking, or everyone on it.
How do guests unsubscribe?
In one click or one word. Email unsubscribe links remove consent for email only and show a confirmation page in your brand. Guests can reply STOP or START by text message or WhatsApp, and opt-outs from mobile carriers are synced back. Unsubscribes take effect straight away.
Will guests get too many messages?
No, if you set caps. You group journeys and campaigns into cap groups and limit how many messages a guest receives in a time window. Caps are counted as each message goes, so two journeys cannot both send past a cap. Each message is also classed by type, such as service or promotional, so consent and caps apply correctly.
For Your Team
What can start a journey?
Almost anything that happens during a stay. A journey can start when a booking is made or changed, a guest checks in, a payment clears, a request is completed or cancelled, a message is read or fails, or a loyalty tier changes. It can also start a set number of days before or after arrival, departure or another booking date.
Do we have to build journeys from scratch?
No. A library of ready-made hospitality journeys, grouped by stay phase, covers everything from booking confirmation and check-in invitation to a post-stay thank-you and birthday offer. You choose whether to switch the library on, then add audience checks, splits, waits and exits to suit your guests.
How do we choose who receives a message?
You build an audience. Combine profile details, reservations, requests, consent, loyalty and guest activity with AND/OR rules and time windows, such as three stays in a year. Audiences stay current as guests change, or you can save a fixed list or import one from a CSV file. Live counts and a masked preview show who matches before anything goes out.
Can we stop a campaign once it has started?
Yes. You can pause, resume or cancel a campaign at any point, and see sent, delivered, opened and clicked figures on the campaign itself. A step-by-step builder saves a draft at every step and checks everything before a campaign can be scheduled.
How do we design our emails?
In a drag-and-drop editor with your brand's own fonts. Blocks can show or hide based on guest or booking details, and merge tags add guest, booking, rate and policy details, payment links, door PINs and QR codes. You can preview with real booking data and send yourself a test. Text message and WhatsApp templates sit in the same library.
Set-Up and Integrations
Which systems does Engage connect to?
Email goes through SendGrid, text message through Twilio, and WhatsApp through Meta's WhatsApp Business platform using approved templates. Emails are designed in the Unlayer editor. Engage takes consent from your property management system (PMS), CRM and booking systems, and can send to named webhooks in your own systems.
How is Engage set up for our properties?
We switch Engage on for your brand. Consent mappings from your systems and the ready-made journey library are then set up per brand or property during onboarding. Consent a guest gives directly is never overwritten when your systems resync.
Security and Data
How does Engage handle consent?
Every send is checked first. Each message is checked against the guest's consent for that channel and message type, with rules that follow the guest's jurisdiction. Consent is held per guest, channel and purpose, staff can record verbal consent on the profile, and every send, suppression and consent change is logged with its reason.
Is Alliants certified for information security?
Yes. Alliants is ISO 27001 certified. Security is built into the platform, from how staff sign in to how guest data is stored and erased.
Where is our data hosted?
On Amazon Web Services, in one regional deployment for your brand: Europe, the United States or Asia Pacific. Each brand has its own dedicated database, and data is encrypted in transit.
How do you handle guest data requests?
When a guest asks to be erased, the request clears their data across related records, including conversations and send logs, and keeps a record of what was cleared without holding any guest details. Consent is held per channel and checked before any message is sent.
