To mark International Women’s Day (March 8) Alliants is making a donation to Smart Works Charity.

Smart Works helps marginalised women break the cycle of rejection and deprivation that results from unemployment.

For Smart Works’ clients, securing a job and gaining financial independence changes their lives and, in turn, the lives of their families and communities. Smart Works operates from seven UK centres and runs a virtual service. In the twelve months to March 2021 Smart Works helped more than 3,000 women. Two thirds of Smart Works clients secure a job within a month. Smart Works is currently campaigning to raise £50,000 for a new centre in South London.

Alliants CEO and co-founder Tristan Gadsby said: “We are delighted to financially support the Smart Works Charity and their outstanding work in helping thousands of vulnerable women gain confidence and independence.”

The women who come to Smart Works centres are referred from Job Centres, mental health charities, women’s refuges, homeless shelters, and prisons. Each client receives a bespoke dressing consultation to find a beautiful and high-quality interview outfit that will fill her with confidence.

The clothes are hers to keep. This is followed by a one-to-one coaching session where clients receive valuable interview preparation, unlocking their potential and enabling them to succeed.

Gadsby added: “At Alliants we try to cultivate and celebrate a very diverse workforce. Whoever you are, you are valued, and being valued and knowing your worth is perhaps one of the most important, but often least recognised, characteristics within a business culture. Alliants and many other businesses can always do more to recognise that and sadly, it is often women who suffer the most when such a culture is missing. Smart Works makes women feel valued through the services they offer. The charity encourages women to understand and believe in their worth, whatever their background and circumstances. It's not just about finding a job, it's about the process of preparing you for that job in the imperfect world we live in.”
